Having a managerial job in the media means you are responsible/in charge of a group of people. For example if you are a Camera Operator you are in charge of your camera team therefore you tell them what to do to make sure everything runs smoothly. Directors often sit with the editor to go through how he wants it edited so the film/music video looks how it should.
